Founded in 2016 to respond to the increased pressure on our community from displacement, homelessness and emergency economic needs locally, and a concurrent increase of asylum seekers and refugees escaping violence and poverty in Latin America, SFLPEC collaborates year-round to create solutions for Latinx families living in the Bayview, Excelsior, Mission, Tenderloin and Visitation Valley.
We are good stewards, caretakers and partners of the City’s investment in the Latinx community.

Our Coalition works to ensure that La Raza who live or work in San Francisco are being justly represented and provided with the resources they need to reach their full potentials. Our coalition, which represents members from leading non-profit, housing, immigration, social service, and advocate groups across the city, was established on the belief that the city’s budget should promote investments which empower Latino communities and reduce inequities for San Francisco’s Latino residents, particularly in the wake of the unprecedented affordability and displacement crisis.
As many San Franciscans achieve increasing economic prosperity, Latinos in San Francisco have been left behind. At this critical moment in our city, and in our country at large, we believe that the city’s budget must work to protect and promote our Latino residents, many of whom face significant obstacles to social and economic mobility including language barriers, immigration status, unemployment, homelessness or housing insecurity, and so forth. As such, our coalition seeks to inform policy and foster the social and economic achievement of the city’s Latino population. In addition, we are engaging in long-term, strategic planning process, which will result in a 5-year plan to assure a thriving future for Latinos in San Francisco.
We recognize the need for immediate action, to mobilize, and produce a long-term plan to empower Latino communities toward success.
Through a Latinx lens and expertise, we have adopted the following goals:
Establish and influence policy and budget priorities for the needs of the Latinx community
Strengthen and integrate the network of social services for Latinx residents in San Francisco
Promote equity for Latinx residents given the region’s affordability and housing crisis
Demonstrate unity within the community
Coordinate stronger citywide data collection and research to help make the case for Latinx communities and organizations
Develop a citywide organized grassroots base that can be mobilized for action
